The Bay Area Doll Club of Texas will host its fourth Spring Into Summer Doll Festival and DAG® Qualified Competition March 25-27, 2010 at the Marriott Hotel in Houston, Texas.  Compete for the Millie and Magge.  The theme this year is "Victorian Secrets and Fantasies" and the winner of this award wins a free seat in a Sheryl Williams seminar at Becca's.  We invite you to attend. 

Bay Area Doll Club will be presenting the Convention doll on Friday with a power point presentation.  Registrants will receive a mold and worksheet and be able to buy the patterns from the Club.

It promises to be packed with Lectures, featuring Kathy Monier, Sue Mitchell and Barbara Walczynski and more, Workshops, Make-N-Takes in the Sales Room, D.A.G. Qualified Doll Competition, top awards of the Millie and Magge, and a sales room packed with lots of wonderful items to buy.  We invite you to come and join the fun.

THURSDAY, MARCH 25:

 Time: 8:00 to 5:00

Moldmaking

Basic Mold Making-1 DAG Point 

You will learn to make a basic two-piece mold that you can take home. This is a fun and relaxed class with plenty of time for discussion and questions.  A doll head will be the item you will work on and you will have the choice of a closed dome baby head or an open dome French Bebe head to learn from. All supplies to finish your mold will be furnished.  Each student should bring an apron, two soft towels (cloth kitchen towels or even old plain cloth diapers are great) and note pad and pen for notes and sketches. Mary Zoch  Make this wonderful German dress to fit the Convention doll.  1 Day, 1 DAG credit. Cost: $125; Teacher Mary Zoch

Shirley Ann Reproduce this lovely Lettie and decorate with laces, trims and buttons.  She is a perfect 9.5 inches and wonderful toy for your bigger dolls.  Cost: $65; Teacher Shirley Ann Taylor

Kathy Shoe Make an adorable pair of leather shoes for your German antique, also fitting our Convention doll.  Cost: $55; Teacher Kathy Monier

 

FRIDAY, MARCH 26TH:

 Time: 8:00 to 12:00

Mary Jo Create this wonderful bustle as shown in Gildebrief for your 12 inch fashion dolls.  Cost: $45; Teacher Mary Jo Koets

Terrie Underwear Make the batiste pantaloons and full slip, with lots of lace insertion that fits the Convention doll.  Cost: $60; Teacher Terrie Strohecker

Lynda Trunk Make this traveling trunk for the Convention doll-just perfect for your doll's accessories.  Cost: $45; Teacher Lynda Alexander

Time: 1:00 - 5:00

Linda Purse  Learn how to thread the loom, string beads and make a lovely purse.  Loom included. Project will not be completed but started in the workshop. Cost: $65; Teacher Linda Wall

Parasol Doll  Recreate this beautiful reproduction of a Parasol Doll.  The project includes the painted doll head, arms and legs, kit for her dress, metal parasol.  Cost: $95; Teacher Becca Hisle

Rooster  Birdhouse  Hen

 Paint your choice of 2 small porcelain figurines: Rabbits with Birdhouse, Rabbits with Signs, or Rooster and Hen with Easter Egg; Cost: $48.95; Teacher Susan Kopyar

 

SATURDAY, MARCH 27TH

Time: 8:00 - 12:00

Sheryl hat Make a handsome leather cap that fits the Convention doll. Cap made of soft leather with a patterned silk lining, leather visor frames his face and the hat band is trimmed with gold braid.  Cost: $65; Teacher Sheryl Williams

Sue Mitchell  Create an elegant powder pull want reminiscent of the dressing table items so popular in the 1920's.  Cost: $45; Teacher Sue Mitchell

Linda Wall Eye Learn doll's eye points, back to basics, seeing the eye cut, how to correct it, and many other techniques. Cost: $50; Teacher Linda Wall

Time: 1:00 - 5:00

Heather Hat Create a poke styled straw bonnet, which will fit the Convention doll.  Learn techniques for creating straw bonnets and using fine straw braiding over a hat form.  Cost: $60; Teacher Heather Levy

Barb Scissor Make this adorable scissor and needle case to add to special sewing box.  Costume and create her mohair wig and bonnet.  Cost: $65; Teacher Barbara Wilczynski

Terrie Cape Make this beautiful pale pink wool cape and hat to fit our Convention doll.  Cost: $60; Teacher Terrie Strohecker

Friday, March 26:

Claudia Workshop Spool Knit or French Knit.  Learn to knit socks on this Socqette Sock Maker for dolls 8-12 inches, 13-17 inches or 18-22 inches in just a few hours.  The Knitter and yarns will be available for purchase also.  Cost: $25.  Teacher Claudia Smith.
